House Values Jump in Last 5 Years

Data from the 2005 American Community Survey shows that nationally, real median home values soared 32% between 2000 and 2005. However in some markets, values rose three or four times that.

Large cities that saw their median home values soar in the past five years included:

  • San Diego up 127.2%
  • Los Angeles up 110.2%
  • New York up 79.1 %

Leading the pack among smaller cities with a population of 65,000 or more were:

  • Boynton Beach, Fla. up 120.3%
  • Folsom, Calif. up 99.5%
