Martha Stewart Home Options Head to Vegas
The domestic diva has a new business venture. She has teamed up with KB Home to launch a planned housing community. The first has been completed in Cary, NC and work has commenced on the second outside of Atlanta, GA. Others are planned for Daytona, Houston, southern California, Las Vegas and Charlotte.
Each home is furnished, painted, dressed and decorated with Martha Stewart Living Omnimedia products and modeled after Martha’s own homes in New York and Maine. The homes in Cary have been priced from the low $200,000s to the mid $400,000s.
Response for the project appears to be favorable. Susan Lyne, president and CEO of Martha Steward Living Omnimedia Inc said, “When KB opens a new community, they typically see traffic of 250 to 500 people on opening day and sell an average of 10 homes. 4,500 attended our grand opening on March 9th and 93 homes were sold. To give you a sense of what this means for the company, of the 1,800 homes in communities we have committed to thus far, we expect to close on approximately 200 in this first ramp up year and to book an average of $8,000 per home.”
